Event Recap

Coca-Cola celebrated fans of gaming in the place they call home. For Blizzard and Overwatch fans, home was the Panorama diner. A widely known location in the game Overwatch.

Partnered with Coca-Cola our team brought the iconic Panorama Diner from Overwatch's beloved "Route 66" map to life. Attendees had the thrilling opportunity to immerse themselves in the game's universe by dining, sipping on drinks, and occupying McCree's authentic booth. The diner became an instant hotspot, attracting a diverse crowd of enthusiastic fans, esports professionals, and influential personalities eager to savor the real-life essence of their cherished game.

Concept Background

Our team was approached by Coca-Cola to bring their partnership with the Overwatch League to life for their most dedicated fans at BlizzCon 2019. Collaborating with Art Directors and Copywriters, I contributed to the conceptual design and pitch of different in-game environments intended for realization. Ultimately, the chosen concept centered around the Panorama Diner on Route 66.

Throughout this process, I crafted a range of graphics and integrated them into 3D mockups, ensuring that the concept was richly detailed and fully realized.

Production

To bring our vision of the Panorama Diner to reality, a huge variety of print graphics had to be constructed. I was responsible for creating posters, signage, and environmental graphics, all of which were essential in populating our rendition of the video game environment.

Menu Motion Graphic

At the last minute, the production team assigned to create the graphic for the dinner menu screens dropped the ball. I stepped in, and within the hour, I produced and delivered the simple yet vital graphic to the on-site team.

Final

The Diner, complete with a full menu and daily giveaways, attracted 6,250 visitors and initiated 2.8 million social impressions and 6.8 million editorial impressions.

The experience made another impression on Overwatch creator, Jeff Kaplan, who said, "This is so close to the in-game version. I feel like I'm in the spawn room right now...I'm so honored that Coke put this together. I couldn't ask for anything better than a Panorama Diner here at BlizzCon."
